Alison Best is certainly one of these.

In the children's book Monkey Business in the Tree House, her illustrations have an unusual quality about them. There is a brilliance of colour, form and composition that is unexpected and arresting. Alison's compelling style vividly illustrates the story, depicting monkeys on a stone urn coming to life.

Its energy dramatically transforms from stone to life and the initial stiff limbed movements of the monkeys is vividly presented with a Van Gogh-like use of deep blue and contrasting yellow.

Expressionist Stencil Art

Alison Best has developed a style of art that is original, powerful and expressive. As a multi-media artist her range of work is extraordinary. Alison’s main focus is on the natural world and the patterns and dynamics in nature. With a very unusual contemporary art style, Alison has also developed a technique known as Expressionist Stencil Art that captures patterns in nature.

These art pieces are individually and exclusively produced to order, making a very special addition to any décor.

Each art stencil takes three days to create and then a further two days of artwork to complete the picture before framing.
